About

BC Douglas exists because most research deliverables reach their audience as one of two things: rigorous and ugly, or beautiful and empty. The studio is an attempt at the third thing. Work that meets the standards of both the literature it summarizes and the readers it is built for.

The work is research synthesis: structured, sourced, written in plain language, and designed to a standard most studios reserve for annual reports. Clients are practitioners and founders who can tell the difference, and who want the work to reflect the seriousness of what they are doing.

The studio is led by B. Carter Douglas, MPH (Urban Health), University of Memphis 2026, with undergraduate work in psychology and the premedical sciences at the University of Alabama.

Research training includes assistant roles on three NIH-funded randomized controlled trials in adolescent behavioral health and autism, the SENSE Theatre Study (NIH R01MH114906) among them, with hands-on experience in structured clinical interview administration, REDCap data management, behavioral coding reliability, and treatment fidelity monitoring. CITI GCP-certified.

A parallel decade managing regional theatre productions, between nine and twelve a year for casts of thirty to fifty neurodiverse youth, has turned out to be largely about translating complex evidence into a structure people can execute against. The studio's own infrastructure is built and maintained in-house.

Careful work is the only kind worth doing. The visible craft of a deliverable is the studio's evidence that the thinking underneath was careful too.
